We've Come So Far...

...but there's still so far to go!! As explained in this post, our family has a goal to raise $1,000 for the Walk to Cure Diabetes for our son, Kayson and nephew, Greg (see their cute little picture in the right sidebar? Awww...don't let their innocent faces fool you!)
The walk is THIS SATURDAY (September 26th) in Orem, UT and we are grateful to everyone who has donated so far: We are just over $400, which is almost half-way to our goal! The economy is rough, so we appreciate every donation of any amount. With diabetes spreading so quickly, you never know when this research may directly benefit you and your family, so if you feel inclined to skip a movie this weekend in exchange for donating to a fantastic cause, you can smile knowing that your donation will help get us all closer to a world free of diabetes!

To donate online, click here

Thank you (from the bottom of our pancreas)!

Talk Like a Pirate Day, September 19

Avast, ye scurvy knaves! 'Tis the day of pirate-ish speech, it is! Thus it be I feel compelled to be sharing this with ye:Should it be that ye be hankerin' to make one of yer' own, this be made with the Big Shot top note die...but of course I'd be happy to teach all ye land-lubbers how to secure the riggin's should ye be callin' me for a cruise on the bounty main (translation: book a workshop in October and I'll bring this sample to show you).

Wouldn't that be a marvelous thing to be sharin' with all the little rugrats who come a--knockin' at yer door on the 31st of October? Or perhaps ye be wishin' to hang 'em high (the candy, that is, not the kids) on the door of yer neighbor afore they be beggin' ye for one. A pre-emptive strike...that be the best way to be usin' yer noggin!

Hello There: FTL #59

I am enjoying the layouts from Clean & Simple Stamping! I actually dreamed about this card last night, only to wake up and read about my sweet little whistler niece Mia in this post. The serendipity continues as Kam just bought a parakeet and named him "King Julian" (a character from the movie Madagascar 2) because his goal is to "...become a professional whistler." This one is for my little songbirds (and almost as cute as the real things)!

Recipe (Stampin' Up!, of course!): Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo and Whisper White card stock and ink pads, Bermuda Bay polka dot grosgrain, Cheep Talk stamp set.

New Shoes, FTL#58

A Clean & Simple (FTL#58) card using Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, Not Quite Navy and Very Vanilla and I used the SU! Scallop Edge punch, of course. This card is a tribute to the $79 sandals I bought this week for only $20 at Dillards! Who doesn't love a bargain?

You Take the Cake

I have been going through a cupcake obsession...both on paper and in true sugar-coated mass, so this On A Pedestal stamp set has sung it's siren song to me once again! The best thing? It contains a Birthday Cake for ONE! A Granny B's Original Pink Sugar Cookie...
Truth in advertising: Let's be honest...did you know the label for this cookie reads 4 (yep that's FOUR) servings per container? A serving is actually 1/4 of the cookie, which contains 130 calories, 6 grams fat and 17 carbs (good to know if, in my case, you are the mother of a diabetic). I guess that on your birthday, reading the Nutrition Facts would reduce the pleasure of the expected sugar rush, so don't bring that up to the person you would give this to :D

Say Hello, Build-a-Bear

I'm so stinkin' excited about THE BEST mini catalog ever (our 2009 Holiday Mini catalog!), so without further ado, let me introduce the new Build-a-Bear Sizzix Die Cuts (have I mentioned I am in love with my Big Shot?):And if he wasn't "pawsitively" perfect, check out this "beary" cute little girl!Yes crafters, Stampin' Up! has teamed with Build-a-Bear Workshop to bring a smile to children young (and mature) everywhere! And wait until you see the cutest rubber stamps we have (stay tuned for samples...).

Interesting side note: Years ago when Stampin' Up! began, the word "workshop" was chosen for the home-parties used to share creativity with customers. The word brought to mind Santa's workshop (a place of delight and wonder) that could be re-created with the joy of friends coming together to learn and play. Now this partnership with the Build-a-Bear WORKSHOP is a perfect fit for our mission to Create, Inspire and Share!
